Dave, I realize that you’ve been promoted to general manager of the great fast-food-restaurant-in-the-sky and that you’re probably enjoying a fat, juicy, square hamburger as I write this, but please, please tell me what happened to my beloved Wendy’s Taco Salad! Who decided that it was a good thing to take away my zesty salsa and replace it with a chipotle ranch dressing? Taco ’bout disappointing! I despise creamy salad dressings, but even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t want to squirt any on my hot chili! Sure, the nacho chips weren’t good for me anyway, but I thought you should know that some nasty executive from head office replaced the chips with funky, seasoned tortilla “strips” that look like rejects from the Doritos factory outlet. I tasted one and it gave me bad breath for hours, just like Doritos! Sigh. It’s so frustrating when one of your favourite fast-food lunches is ripped out from under you with no advanced warning. And while I’m at it, Dave, why does the new Chicken Spinach Salad contain 25% spinach and 75% romaine lettuce? I just think that’s weird.

Sincerely,
Greta “Toss the New Salads” Podleski
P.S. On a happier note, today is Janet’s birthday! Happy birthday Janetski!

Good point about the Wendy’s salads, sis! It’s not just the taco salad that Wendy’s executives screwed up on, but what about the best salad they’ve ever had–The Southwest Salad. Remember that one? It was so delish! Black beans, corn, tomato, and I think it might have even had cilantro (is that possible at a fast food joint?) It was not only tasty and interesting, but it was healthy, and I would eat it a couple of times a week if the bigwigs hadn’t decided to discontinue it. Why, please tell me why? It was so nice to be able to choose something besides plain ol’, boring schmoring garden salad. Blah! Maybe we should open up an Eat, Shrink and Be Merry franchise that offers flavourful, super-scrumptious meals for busy folks who still care about what they put in their bodies. Whaddya think, Gretz?

You’ve got it right on about the salads. Wendy’s is not the only fast food place to give us salads with mediocre choices. Isn’t a salad supposed to be healthy? Not when it has toppings like “crispy” chicken and fat-laden dressings. Fast-food joints, please give us tastier, helathier choices!

Oh my goodness … the Wendy’s Taco Salad!! I too am terribly disappointed in the change-up!! It has definitely not been for the better!! It used to be a favourite treat, but the last time I ordered it, got it home, and was ready to feast out, I couldn’t believe it!! I definitely did not like it, no, I did not!! I’m glad to hear I am not the only one, and now that I’ve posted my disappointment on this blog, I really must contact Wendy’s myself. After all, isn’t it us, as consumers, that should speak up? They won’t be seeing my money spent until the beloved original Taco Salad is back!! There, I feel better already.

Speaking of boring green salads, however, I must say that the giant sized, fresh “Spring Mix” salad from Wendy’s which I have bought dozens of times for a vegetarian lunch, was a favorite of mine and alas, they have now also removed it from the menu. I don’t know how many times I’d have my husband pick up one or two when in a pinch for a supper=time salad for our family of six, and my young boys fought over every last bite that their mother didn’t eat, and now we can’t do that anymore! Too bad! I have no motivation to pull into a Wendy’s now. I will have to let them know how I feel, too. Maybe they’ll bring ‘em back.
