Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Janet and I are super-excited to let you know that our new line of “grEATing” cards–humourous cards with recipes–is now in Hallmark stores across Canada. Yippee! I can’t believe my eyes when I walk into the store…the display is BIG and colourful and very cool, even if I do say so myself :) You’ll find 50 cards in all categories: birthday, annivesary, get well, thank you, keeping in touch, etc. etc. So far the response has been amazing. We’ll be doing a media tour to promote the cards in April but, in the meantime, we’re hoping you’ll help us to spread the word. To thank you for your help, Janet and I are GIVING AWAY TWO SETS OF 24 grEATing CARDS to two lucky winners. Just post a comment on this blog entry before the end of MARCH, and we’ll enter your name in a draw to win. (Note to our 4 older sisters who often read our blog: As relatives, you are ineligible to win. Sorry. You can have an extra slice of ham at Easter dinner to make up for it.) We’ll notify the two winners on or around April 1st. Good luck! (And please check out the cards when you pass a Hallmark store!)
P.S. You’ll also find grEATing cards at select WalMart stores across the country, too.

As a chef I am so excited to hear that you have these! I think that I will just have to go out and get some. . . . or maybe I can win some!!!

I love your cards!! I will be sending these out whenever an occasion arises. They are Perfect.
3 Linda The Rat // Mar 10, 2009 at 6:58 pm
I challenge anybody to find a recipe of Janet and Greta’s that’s not a 10 out of 10. From the Daiquiri Pie to the Holiday Cheese Ball, there’s nothing left to put in between them…. except my teeth!
Love the cards, love the recipes, love the artwork and you guys rock!
4 Linda // Mar 10, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Hmmm I usually make my own cards but I think I might have to break down and buy these ones!!! (unless I win….lol, but then I guess I could still buy more!!)
5 Chrissy // Mar 10, 2009 at 9:13 pm
These sound like the perfect cards for my 14 friends and I (we all purchased the cookbooks last summer). We love the recipes and the added cooking and healthy living tips. I’ll definitely be looking for these cards next time I’m card shopping.
6 Jen // Mar 11, 2009 at 9:03 am
The grEATing sounds great! I will definitely look for them in the stores. I’m getting married next month….I don’t suppose any would have a wedding cake recipe….?
At any rate, keep up the great work - I love your cookbooks!
7 Greta Podleski // Mar 11, 2009 at 9:15 am
Actually, Jen, one of our wedding cards has a scrumptious recipe for a layered carrot cake with orange-cream-cheese icing–not in any of our cookbooks!! Congrats on your wedding

I would love to see your new line of cards. Are they available in the US at Wal-Marts? I will be looking for them.
9 Janet Podleski // Mar 11, 2009 at 11:22 am
Deb,
Sorry, but the grEATing cards are not in the US stores yet. We’re working on it!! We recently met with some nice folks at Hallmark US in Kansas City, and they’re thinking about it. We’ll just have to keep coaxing them! Certainly, Americans could use a good laugh and some good, healthy food right now. The cards are very cute, and they make people smile, and all of us need that, don’t we?
10 Lorraine // Mar 11, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Congratulations on the cards! I am a big fan of all three of your cookbooks as well as your show. I will definitely check out the cards as alot of my family and friends are ESBM fans too!
11 Teena Simpson // Mar 11, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Great job, as usual, ladies!! I can hardly wait to purchase these cards. Hopefully Timmins will be on your “tour”. We’d love to see you both again!!! Thank you!

Wahoo, the perfect card to send to my aunt’s birthday who just joined WW not long ago!
The books are my go to then and still my go to now for my meal planning! Helped me lose and keep off 45 lbs.! All that and my 2 year old loves pancakes with cottage cheese in them! Thank you NYPD Blueberry Pancakes!

Ooh are you promoting the cards somewhere in Ottawa, where I could maybe bring my books and get you to sign them while you are here? (And get some cards, of course!)
Congrats ladies!

I can’t wait to check out the new cards. I looked at them online and they look great.
18 Zee // Mar 12, 2009 at 6:50 pm
The cards sound like a fantastic idea. Who should we contact to get them carried in the US? And how did Leigh see them online?
19 Greta // Mar 12, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Zee,
Leigh would have seen them on Hallmark’s website at http://www.hallmark.ca. I should have posted the link above. We are working on US distribution…we’ve had many requests! Keep your fingers crossed

Wow, I don’t check this site for a couple days and I come back to this!! (meaning a new and exciting blog about winning stuff with a gazillion people who’ve already responded!) Just glad I didn’t totally miss this!!
Coincidentally, April 1st just happens to be the day I get my acceptances or rejections from the teacher’s colleges I applied to, so it could potentially be a doubley fantastic day - or a REALLY bad one…. LOL I’m keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for both things!!
22 Jody // Mar 13, 2009 at 8:00 am
I love the new cards! I am so excited because I have an occasion to buy one this weekend. I have to admit in the past I have skipped Hallmark because the cards were long-winded and too sappy for my taste - but now they will get my grEATing card business.
23 Tara // Mar 13, 2009 at 9:44 am
So exciting. I can’t wait to check out the new recipies inside the cards! yum-o!
24 Leigh // Mar 13, 2009 at 11:08 am
I saw them at this link as well. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.F06446.desc.24-Holiday-Recipe-grEATing-Cards-by-Janet-Greta-Podleski.CM_SCID.coll Look at the video.
25 Janet Podleski // Mar 13, 2009 at 1:26 pm
FYI: the link listed above is from our QVC (shopping channel) appearance in November. It profiles our box-set of Christmas cards, called “Seasoned GrEATings,” so you won’t get a glimpse of the rest of the line of 50 cards…but you’ll get the gist of it, anyway!
26 Zee // Mar 13, 2009 at 4:22 pm
The Christmas cards are the cutest! Thanks for the link. I’ve ordered a set to send for next year! Do you plan to sell the new cards on QVC?
27 Linda // Mar 13, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Is there not a Hallmark store in Canada that has a website to order.. even though we are in the US? Love the card idea and I know my GFs would also!
28 Trish // Mar 14, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Congratulations on the cards! We love your recipes at our house. My girls (8 and 9) take turns picking one out of one of the cookbooks on Friday nights and then helping me to make it for dinner. They love to help me cook and it’s my way of teaching them to be healthy at the same time!
29 Laura // Mar 14, 2009 at 2:25 pm
What an awesome idea. I love your recipes so much and I try to convince people to use them. The greEATing cards are such a great way to pass on your recipes in a fun way! Love it and can’t wait to buy them.
30 Jan // Mar 15, 2009 at 1:04 pm
So excited to hear about the cards…Ladies, I love your books and so do my tastebuds! I enjoy cooking a lot more (because what I’m cooking tastes great) and since starting to exercise more and changing the way that I eat (meaning ESM style) I’ve lost 20lbs. Keep up the great work!
31 Kim // Mar 15, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Yay! More ESBM stuff! Love the books, love the show and I’m sure the cards will be just as fantastic!! I can’t wait to check them out..what a great idea!

Congratulations, Janet and Greta, on another innovative and exciting product! What a grEAT added bonus to the whole expense of a card, a healthy and tasty recipe! Can’t wait to see them!
33 Carol // Mar 16, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Your branana bread is amazing. I have made it a few times and I used wholewheat flour and a bit more liquid and it was superb.
I have substituted for many years with healthy ingredients like you do and it’s really nice to have it done for me.
Good luck with the greeting cards! I will buy them!
34 Jamie // Mar 18, 2009 at 4:02 pm
You girls are too fun! Would love to spread my love to others with your cards. I love the recipes of yours that I’ve tried so far. I look forward to trying more.

I learned about you girls and your book at a Taste of Home cooking school in Ohio. You are too cute! I’m always looking for healthy light recipes, so I’ll be checking out yours! Thank you!

I am such a big fan of your cookbooks and philosphy on cooking! What a wonderful idea - will definitely be using these cards in the future (whether I win them or not!) Your story is an inspiration!

38 Nancy // Mar 20, 2009 at 10:16 am
Ladies - I cannot wait to get your book “Eat, Shrink, & Be Merry”! I just saw you on “Living the Life” today and ordered your book while I was watching. I am trying to get my family to eat healthier and I am trying to lose weight. But most of what I eat is blah! So I believe your book will give me inspiration & I’ll have fun eating and losing pounds. My 13 yr old daughter loves helping out in the kitchen and she will get a kick out of the recipes. Sure wish your cards were available in US Hallmarks!
39 Betty // Mar 20, 2009 at 10:18 am
My sister and I have recently started to work together to eat better. Cooking is something I have never enjoyed but after seeing the two of you on a show this morning when I was flipping channels I am inspired. Your new line of “grEATing” cards will be fun to send to my sister.
40 Lisa // Mar 20, 2009 at 10:45 am
I just saw you on “Living the Life” and I plan to order your book (thanks to your 2 for 1, I’ll be able to give my mom a copy). Love the idea of your cards, hopefully I’ll be able to buy them in the US soon.
41 dailyfooddiarylady // Mar 20, 2009 at 12:55 pm
GIRLS! (As my Mother would say…) Love, love, love the whole humor and food thing!
I just ordered your book…
Going back in to look at the grEATing cards, love that idea too!
Thanks for brightening my day! I just happened upon your interview on CBN and liked the way you two were just wingin’ it! That was a fun segment and I will be listening to your other interviews you share on this site.
Can’t wait for the book to arrive!
Good luck to you and may God baste you!
42 Roxanne // Mar 21, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Fantastic news…I was so disappointed to see that your Christmas cards were only available in the US, I’ll look for these for sure.
BTW, my son recently sold copies of your cookbook for a fundraiser, with proceeds going to help build a school in a mountain village in Nepal (he’s there right now, actually!). He had fun boasting about his favorite recipes in the school newsletter, and even admitted to coming to love asparagus as a result of your Brittney Spears recipe. I think it was fairly well received, and a nice change from selling chocolate bars or cheese! Thanks to Peter M. for his help.
43 Jen // Mar 22, 2009 at 2:18 am
I absolutely love your show on the Food Network! I’m a huge fan of making what you eat healthier - even if it’s just by that little bit - every bit counts! What you guys promote is fantastic - food can taste delicious AND be healthy!
Thanks for all the tips!!

I love your cookbooks and I hope that you are thinking of a new book soon!!! My life seems to centre around food so I can’t wait to see your new grEATing cards!! I have many friends that are fans of yours.. recently on Facebook a friend of mine mentioned on her facebook status that she was making one of your recipes. That caused a stir of comments from other friends mentioning their favorite recipes etc.. Thanks again!

You guys are so inspirational. I love all your work and wish you would blog more often. Your humour is a serious pick me up. I was wondering - if one of your sisters and I both win can we trade places and I can have the extra piece of ham at the Easter table???? Hope you come out with a new book very very soon.

52 Cheryl B. // Mar 25, 2009 at 7:43 pm
I decided it was time I try to lose a few of those extra pounds I have accumulated over the long winter when my sister in law pulled out your latest cookbook and said I should try the recipes as they are calorie smart and tasty too! After flipping through almost every recipe in the book I am off to the book store tomorrow to buy it. Looking forward to some new recipes and a slimmer waist line!
53 Charlynn Greene // Mar 26, 2009 at 12:18 pm
I have just found you girls and have read your whole amazing story! I can’t wait to get copies of your books! I need them! I hope your grEATing cards become available in the US soon.

I finally got a chance to check out the GrEATing cards online … I love them! I’m definitely going to pick some up the next time I’m near a Hallmark Store!!! I already have picked out with certain friends in mind!
55 Mary Jane // Mar 26, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I received one of your grEATing cards at Christmas from my good friend Carrie (the recipe was Jingle Bell Crock…you’ve gotta love the name, and it tasted amazing too). We are both avid cooks and often exchange recipes, so these cards are perfect for gals like us. I’m so excited that they are now available in stores. (I even e-mailed your website earlier in the year to find out how I could get some). I can’t wait to send a card (and a cookbook) to my sister in Chicago for her birthday this spring…. much to my surprise she had never heard of the cookbooks or the cooking show. Don’t worry, That will be fixed shortly!
Cheers and keep coming up with those great recipes and food factoids….MJ in Sarnia

Your recipe books are grEAT……..and now the cards are another excellent addition. Only problem was ……..I didn’t know which ones to buy so I bought a few and tucked them away for the next occasion when a card is needed.

I just gave my homestay student your cookbook for her 18th birthday. She loves the recipes and was thrilled to receive the Eat, Shrink and Be Merry book! We all agree that we haven’t made a bad recipe yet; they are all amazingly easy and so tasty. I wish I had seen the cards before reading this blog. Oh well, at least she has the cookbook!

I walked into the staff room at school the other day and saw one of your cards. A staff member was off sick and someone purchased the Chicken Soup recipe card for them. It was so cool to see your cards in circulation. I couldn’t help but say I was fortunate enough to get a box of the early realease Christmas Cards from Greta. Everyone I sent them too loved them.
