Dark Secret Revealed

Posted by Janet on August 28th, 2008 ·

Chocoholics rejoice! Recently, one of our readers sent us a little treasure chest of chocolately treats so scrumptious, we’re still salivating just thinking about it. It’s called “Xocai–The Healthy Chocolate.”

Most people have heard that chocolate is not only good for the soul, but scientists have confirmed it’s also good for the heart (and more!) Dark chocolate is rich in flavanoids, the natural antioxidants credited with making red wine heart-healthy. We need lots of antioxidants to prevent disease, slow the aging process and generally, to be well.

But before you run to the grocery store and load up on Oh Henry’s and Milky Ways for “medicinal purposes,” be aware that it’s only the high-quality dark stuff that’s good for you. The more cocoa (the darker the chocolate), the more antioxidants. Sorry to burst your Aero bubble, but commercial chocolate uses a heating process that destroys most of the antioxidants in cocoa. Plus, the cheaper milk chocolate bars usually contain partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats), refined sugars (lots of it!), waxes, fillers, and preservatives. Can you say “cellulite?”

What’s so great about Xocai? Well, according to the manufacturer, they don’t use heat to process the chocolate. Instead they use a cold-pressed method that leaves the chocolate’s high antioxidant properties undamaged. Plus, the ingredient list is simple and clean: unsweetened chocolate, raw cane juice crystals, cocoa, lecithin, acai berry and blueberry powder. No fillers and waxes and trans fats, and only 3 g of sugar per serving. That’s next to nothing!

But it’s that super-high antioxidant content that has me going cookoo over this cocoa. It almost seems too good to be true. They say you’d have to eat three cups of blueberries to get the equivalent antioxidants found in one measly Xocai chocolate nugget! Who’da thunk? Plus, it’s melt-in-your-mouth dee-lish! One square, eaten slowly, is enough to satisfy even the most serious chocoholic, like myself.

Unfortunately, it seems you can’t get Xocai in stores. I believe it’s distributed via network marketing, so you’d have to find someone who sells it. You can go to Xocai.com to find out more.

Can’t I just get a 70% organic dark chocolate at my local food coop and be just as happy?

    Hi Greg,

Your local store’s 70% dark chocolate is still a good choice for sure. It seems that the unique processing of this Xocai chocolate, plus the fact that it includes acai berry (a potent anti-oxidant), makes it even more powerful as far as health-protective properties go. Your grocery store brand wouldn’t use the cold-pressing technique, most likely. (And if they did, they would definitely promote it on the label.) But don’t get me wrong, the 70% kind you’ve been eating still has its benefits. It still has antioxidants, and I like the fact that it’s easily accessible and affordable. Since i was given the Xocai chocolate as a gift, I have no idea what it costs, but I’m betting it’s more expensive than the kind you’d buy in stores. (I’m not a fan of network marketing. I prefer being able to buy things in a store when I want them. I don’t like “auto-ship” precedures that are often used in network marketing.) So the answer, in a chocolate-covered nutshell, is keep on doin’ what you’re doin’.

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll keep doin’ what I’m doin’. I hate network marketing. Also, the super nutrient thing can work my nerves too - it gets a little carried away - super this - anti aging that - what happened to food?
By the way, I just got your books today and I am heading home to do some cooking, looks like some great recipes!

I’m at a lost as to where to locate (frozen) bread dough in the St Lawrence Market area of downtown TO - please help. What else could I use? Do I skip Mercedes Buns all together?

I purchase a box of Xocai Nuggets at my local Wholistic Market this week, Nature’s Emporium in Newmarket, Ontario. I am in love with the product and the cost was $140.00 per 100 units. You can go the multi-level marketing group way but I am not convinced that there are huge savings in it as yet.

My husband and I have been eating Xocai chocolate just over 4 months now…and have been experiencing great results. First of all…it’s yummy. I am not a dark chocolate lover ( until this) and have always preferred milk chocolate products…even though I knew they were not as good for me. After eating this ….3-4 peices/day..we find that we no longer crave processed sugars, we’ve both lost weight, sleeping better, more energy etc. For us ,it was about getting more antioxidants in our daily diet & replacing the bad with the good and surprisingly enough, our grocery bill has gone down substantially because we no longer buy the junk we used to crave. I’m so glad our friends shared this great product with us. I like the fact it is a natural food and not candy.
PS…..As far as buying it through a Networking method…that doesn’t bother us … Isn’t that how we share most products we love and believe in? All it is is ‘ word of mouth’. I’d much rather hear about a product through someone I trust that is having good results with it than take the word of advertisers or companies selling it in their stores for a greater profit…. JMHO. lol

Thanks for the hint on the Cheesecake recipe.

A friend of mine gave this chocolate to me while I was pregnant with my daughter. She said I “looked draggy” and it would help. Trust me it did!! My energy levels were so great my entire pregancy and I’ve eaten it every day for 14 months now. (There’s no caffeine in it, which is why it’s safe for pregnancy or nursing mothers). All my girlfriends are eating it now during pregnancy and it has *reversed* one of their Toxemia (high blood pressure) back to normal values!!! I LOVE THIS CHOCOLATE!!

    Super testimonials about Xocai!
It is less expensive if you become a distributor and you can even go on ‘auto-ship’ and get a box delivered every month if you like. Sort of like Cosco.. you pay a memebership to join.
The referral marketing plan is excellent. With very little effort you can have your chocolate paid for, althought that isn’t for everybody. The chocolate should be though!

Eat chocolate and lose weight guilt free. Diabetic Friendly, heart healthy and Profitable. Anyone can share chocolate but knowing that Xocai chocolate is the first company with the International patent on cold pressed technology backed by clinical studies. How amazing!!!
My husband and I have been eating Xocai chocolate for 8 months. This has changed his life living with MS.
Not All CHOCOLATE IS THE SAME! not heating is the key….All the best to the other Distributors…Keep Sharing….
