Thank You Weight Watchers!
This message is long, long overdue.
My sister, Greta, and I just wanted to acknowledge the huge role that Weight Watcher’s members across the country have played in the success of our three books. Starting way back in 1996 with our first-born book-child, “Looneyspoons,” the WW crowd took “our baby” in, wrapped it in swaddling clothes and pretty much adopted it as their own. They’ve been enthusiastically supporting our books for 12 years now, holding them up at meetings, playing “show-and-tell,” and exchanging recipes, ideas and tips. And now, with “Eat, Shrink and Be Merry,” not a day goes by where someone hasn’t chatted up “ESBM” (WW lingo for our book!) on their website’s message boards. How lucky are we?
Fortunately, our books fit really well with their points system. Plus, our views on healthy eating, dieting, and exercise are in tune with what WW preaches—common sense, moderation, and making small, gradual lifestyle changes rather than going on radical, temporary, unrealistic fad diets. We’re happy to have this unofficial association with Weight Watchers. It’s one of the few weight loss programs that we wholeheartedly recommend to people who ask us for advice. How can you argue with their volumes of success stories? We’ve met tons of people who’ve watched their weigh drop, and better yet, watched it stay there. (Gosh, you’d think this was some kind of Weight Watcher’s infomercial or something. It’s not—I promise!) It’s just that we’re very grateful for their support and their indirect role in propelling each of our books to #1 on the bestseller list. So thanks a bunch, WW. We owe you one big commission cheque, I think! (No worries—we’ll deduct it from Greta’s pay cheque starting right now.)

Just found your blog! and I just started back on Weight Watchers so what a coincidence that you were talking about how well the 2 go together.
Question for you, going through my original Looney Spoons I noticed that fiber contents are not listed under the nutritional listings. Do your new books include the fiber for finding points?
BTW love your show! i live in Kitchener-Waterloo so the german potato challenge was close to home.
great work and thanks for all the amazing new ways to think about cooking, healthier!

Brenda,
Yes, our other books, Crazy Plates and ESBM, have the fiber content included in the nutritional analysis, so it’s easy for you to calculate your WW points. As far as why Looneyspoons doesn’t have the fiber content, it’s a long story (involving a wicked electrical storm that destroyed our computer’s hard drive, wiping out our nutritional analysis). It takes SO long to calculate this stuff, so maybe someday when we have a fair bit of free time, we’ll publish this material and perhaps put it on our website.
Glad you’re enjoying the books!!

Where do I find your recipe for GERMAN POTATO SALAD??
Janet Podleski | June 21, 2008 at 8:20 pm →
Hi Ella,
You can find the potato salad recipe here on our website. Just go to the home page, click on “TV Show” and then “Get TV Show Recipes.” You’ll see them all listed.
Enjoy!

Hi Janet & Greta
Love your books, love your show. I’m sure you hear it all the time, but it’s really true. I got Looney Spoons years ago and use it faithfully. Especially in my new venture, which I’d like to share with you. Would it be possible to email you directly to discuss?
Thanks to both of you.
C.

Hi Ola,
Yes, there will be a season 3, but it won’t be airing until next year (2009), probably in the fall. We don’t start taping it until late this fall, and it takes that long to edit, etc. There are still two episodes from season 2 that haven’t aired yet–crab cakes and enchiladas. They started showing previously aired episodes from season 2 on Food Network, but keep your eyes peeled for these two new ones–probably in mid-late July. Glad you’re enjoying the show!

Holy COW, that’s a long time to wait for fresh new puns!!!
I don’t know if I can wait that long!?! But I will keep my eyes peeled for the crab cakes and enchiladas! Thanks, Janet!
P.S. You guys are too cute in your dirndls at Oktoberfest! You were totally workin’ that look! haha

Hello,
Do you accept recipes from others? I have a great vegetarian Shepard’s Pie recipe and I thought that you might be interested. In return, maybe you can do the number crunching to see the nutrients. I’m convinced that the numbers are good however I don’t know them and they would be useful to count my points since I’m on Weight Watchers.
Let me know!

Girls I would just like to thank you for all of your wonderful recipes. I am on Weight Watchers and have every one of your fabulous cookbooks. My favourite recipes are “Bon Bon Jovi’s”, “The Wicked Sandwitch of the West”, “Na-cho Ordinary Taco Salad” “Worth Every Penne” and “Just Stew it”. I have told all of my friends about your books and how easy it is to make a quick, fresh and healthy meal that tastes great too. I hope that you find the same success in the States you have found here in Canada.

Thanks for mentioning the ww.ca message boards. We do compare favorites and recipes daily. Your books are easy to encorporate into the program as they contain the nutritional information.
Thanks for giving people all your information, as well as great recipes for the family, entertaining, and for single households!
We will keep promoting your books because we use them In Real Life

Long time members of Weight Watchers online have been teaching our newer members the ESBM lingo.
I haven’t set foot in a meeting in a couple of years, but I follow the plan online for the most part – and much of my cooking comes from your books. The food, even being lower in fat, are healthy and tasty that even my picky 5-year-old twin girls will eat with gusto. Even my really, really picky one!! I’m glad I can teach them healthy eating habits with your delicious recipes!!
Is there going to be another book soon?? Please??

I am a lifetime member of WW and enjoy your cookbooks immensely – never miss your show and will definately look forward to the crab cakes! I learn a lot from your show and from the cookbooks. It took me a while to reach my goal – now that I am there – I do not want to go back – I believe you can not live on a boring, regimented diet and give up the good stuff forever (food that you crave and that comforts you) so incorporating it into my lifestyle is what works for me – and recipes such as yours – are there when I need them. Keep up the good work – and I look forward to a fourth cookbook and another season of ESBM in the future!
