Oh, how I love my little Dove. No, not the cute little Mourning Dove that coos from its perfectly coiffed nest atop my outdoor decorative wreath. No, not my trusty little bar of Dove soap, though its invigorating moisture beads and the new sparkling scent of grapefruit and lemongrass sure are nice. The Dove I love is edible, incredible and, thankfully, get-able…since you can finally buy it just about anywhere. I’m talking about Dove dark chocolate, specifically the individually wrapped, ultra-smooth and silky ”miniatures.” Oh my, these are good!
What’s so great about them, other than their amazing melt-in-your-mouth taste and texture? I like that they’re indivually wrapped, like little presents, which makes enjoying them even more special. Plus, I suppose it’s a form of portion control for those of us who’d tend to eat an entire Dove chocolate bar once it’s unwrapped. One or two of these tasty little morsels really are enough to satisfy your chocolate cravings. The best news of all is that dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, the natural antioxidants that are also credited with make red wine heart-healthy. Could a Dove a day help keep the doctor away? I’d sign up for that clinical trial in a (healthy) heartbeat!
You MUST try these and tell me what you think. The key is to let the chocolate melt in your mouth and DO NOT CHEW! That just wrecks it. I found a cardboard pouch containing 20 individual Dove dark chocolates at the checkout counter at Shoppers Drug Mart, but I’ve I also seen them at my grocery store. Can’t remember what I paid though. Do flavonoids help with memory loss?

I promise to try one! It sounds really yummy. I will take this on as a nutrition challenge, LOL, whatever works right?
I have noticed there are more and more portion-controlled chocolate bars out there charging the same price as the big bars which I think is so silly. And a waste of money! I prefer the big bag of individual pieces idea, much better.

My daughter and I tried them, and being dark chocolate lovers, we think they’re very good. However, my number one favorite is still the Lindt 70 % bar, and one square is ever so satisfying too. As much as I love and savor it, I am not tempted to eat more than one square. Admittedly though, those darling little (Dove) packages are very “sweet” as my kids would say!

My husband and I have been indulging in Dove’s dark chocolate for months now, ever since a friend turned me onto them. Not normally a big dark chocolate fan, I was hesitant, but they are delish! Very smooth and creamy. And it is much easier for me to stop at one or two than it is when I eat the Dove milk chocolates (which is why I don’t keep the milk chocolate around. I always overindulge and make myself sick!)

I’m very impatient when it comes to chocolate - I ALWAYS chew it up super quickly - so it was SO HARD to not do that and just let it melt. But it was worth it because it was yummy! And a fun little surprise I discovered as I was eating my last 2 squares: each little wrapper has a message inside it! Mine said “Kiss in public” and “Say I love you”. Awww! hehe
